Make it stand out.
Our story starts the same as any classic love story—on Hinge (for members of older generations reading this, that’s a dating app). Trang found Alex’s response about the fashion fad we all fell victim to (answer: Lance Armstrong bracelets) too funny to pass up and made the questionable decision to throw him a like (or whatever you do on Hinge, it’s been a long time). We had our first date on October 12, 2018, at Bar Vacilando in Capitol Hill, where we drank far too much Malbec.
We took our first trip together just a few months later when Trang asked him to tag along on a work trip to NYC and there have been many others trips since. Walla Walla is an especially special destination since it was where Alex first said “I love you” after many wine tastings throughout the day (seeing a theme?).
In October 2020 we officially moved in together, following Trang’s extended stint at Alex’s Belltown apartment during the pandemic (where she had a lovely couch office) nested into our Ballard townhouse.
After over 5 years together and countless of you asking Alex when he was going to “lock Trang down,” on May 9, 2024, Alex proposed to Trang in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower with her parents as the official photographers. Trang was shocked thanks to the exceptional deception of Best Man/Ring Bear (not a misspelling) Stephen Aiken, who had denied the ring was even in possession. Which is also why she was wearing a pair of New Balances at the time of the proposal, even though Alex had tried to convince her to get dressed up ahead of dinner. We spent the rest of our European trip celebrating through Paris and Portugal.
And that brings our journey to September 20, 2025 – Wedding Day! Can’t wait to see you in Walla Walla!
